Intelligent Keylock Unlocker
Feb 6th, 2011 | By fabian | Category: Android Apps
If enabled, the Intelligent Keylock Unlocker unlocks your lock screen automatically if the proximity sensor does not register any object closer than a few centimeters to it.
In that way, you don’t need to disable the lock screen any more and don’t need to worry about that your phone could be unlocked while it’s in your pocket at once!
Please notice: If you are using your lockscreen e.g. in order to disable alarms, you should be careful when using this application
because the lockscreen might be disabled even in that case.

It is well programmed and does not drain the battery in any way. However, it may stress the battery on some (few) devices due to technical (firmware-related) reasons.
In principle, the application should work on almost every phone and with almost every lock screen application. Let me know if it does not.
A few last words: The App2SD-mode is intentionally deactivated, because it would not work that way (referring to the Android SDK Documents).

This application is free. Since I spend much time on developing such applications, I appreciate every financial support for my projects, particularly because I spend much time on replying your emails. More details can be found on my website (see the link below).

Great idea but I still want a lock screen for security reasons. HTC Sense actually uses two lock screens: there’s a slider before the one with the pattern. Would it be possible for Intelligent Keylock Unlocker to skip the first lock screen but still use the second one, or perhaps implement its own pattern lock?
I dont want to make it that complicated. It’s a simple application and it built to make your life easier. If you use a keyguard anyway, it’s not worth the effort to customize it that much, I think.
It’s main purpose is to get rid of the lock screen whenever the keylock is not needed.
EDIT: Maybe a locale plugin would be reasonable. To enable it if you are at home, for example. Or to disable it, if you are at work. I will regard this in the future
Nice concept, however it disables Screebl (http://www.appbrain.com/app/screebl-lite-save-power/com.keyes.screebl.lite) on my Wildfire running Android 2.2.1.
I found the cause, but I can not prevent it. But as there are many custom lock screens, there has to be the possibility to get rid of that problem. I sent a mail to the screebl guys, let’s see what they say.
Would be nice if you could select what to disable. Slide screen or pattern unlock. I prefer to keep the slide unlock for alarm and other info. The pattern is nice to have to prevent pocket calls.
Also I had 2 bugs one is the pattern sometimes showed when in an application and pressing the home key. The other is sometimes the search button didn’t respond in applications. I like the app but for now I disabled it and hope to get a good update.
The latter problems have been solved today (see the update in the Market).
But I can’t implement the suggested option, as you can disable either both or none (for technical reasons).
I installed the update but noticed it now doesn’t remove the unlock pattern. This is what prevented the pocket calls. So now it ain’t useful for me.
You say both or none but now you do one? So why not make it optional?
OK, you are right. I did not try the unlock pattern. But anyway, if you disable both, the “USER_PRESENT” broadcast is not fired, resulting in some problems. For instance, widgets are not updated. The home button may be blocked, also the search button. And more generally, applications which listen to the broadcast that tells the phone a user is present do not start. That’s unfortunately a serious problem, and I can’t get rid of it, because this broadcast can be fired only by the Android system itself.
Ah
well cant make what’s not supported. Thanks anyway for the effort.
Love the app. It’s the best out of all the anti-locks I have tried. My only wish is that it would allow ANY hard key to wake the phone and not just the power key. I have an SGS Fascinate and the power key is just a bit too small and awkward to hit in a hurry. The volume keys are much handier. Any chance of enabling that?
Hi Kris. Unfortunately, that’s generally not possible in Android. Only the power key is allowed to wake up your phone.
Hi, I use NOLED on my SGS Vibrant with your version 1.0, and they worked great together; I upgraded to 1.1 and now NOLED no longer works together with your screen unlocker. Any way to obtain ver 1.0 again so I can re-install to see if they now work again together? Thanks!!
Hi Keith, yes of course. I put a version archive on the top of the comments list.

Hello,
Je viens de l’installer sur mon DHD 2.2.1.
Il fonctionne.
Il a juste une vibration de l’écran lorsque j’allume mon DHD.
Pourriez vous supprimer cette vibration?
Merci et meilleures salutation.

The app works great when manually activating the screen with the power on button; but it does not seem to work when the device is activated by an incoming phone call.
This app would be perfect if the power on button could be used to activate the screen for incoming calls. Maybe trick it into thinking the power button is a connected bluetooth device? It’s still a great app. Thanks for your efforts.

Android 2.3
It’s cause some battery drain on Galaxy S Darky gingerbread ROM.
Android battery menu says it put system in ‘stay awake’ for one hour during period of ten hours . For me it is 10% of battery used in general.
Any updates?
Can’t get it to work on Samsung Moment 2.1. The test shows the sensor registering but it don’t unlock the lockscreen.
is it possible it’s not functional on nexus s with stock 2.3.4? the “Test” bar works just fine, the app is running (checkbox is on), but there’s no visible effect when i wake the phone up. (i’m using the stock lock screen, without pin.)

Hello alarm clock dude. Did you dieded?
Hi. Could you please tell me if the Sony-Ericsson xperia x10 mini is one of the phones affected by the power drain caused by the Intelligent key unlocker?
Also, I am very impressed with your apps. My girlfriend and I LOOOVE the alarmdroid app, very cool! We will use it for a few more days and if there are no problems, we will surely upgrade to the Pro version.
Cheers from Australia.
It’s ok, I think my phone is impacted as it had 20% battery when I went to bed and when I woke up in the morning, it was already dead battery.
Will continue using alarmdroid though…great app!!!
Das Programm schließt sich leider nach ca. 7 sek von selbst. HTC HD2 MIUI 1.11 2.3.7
The app is great, though on my LG Optimus One it stops working after I receive the first phone call.
Trying to restart the application does not help. The only way to fix it is to reboot the device.
I would give it 5 stars if only the bug was not there.
